Armor Dynamics

Kingston, NY

“Necessity is the Mother of Invention.”  Armor Dynamics, Inc. located in Kingston, New York, is living proof of that popular axiom.  The formation of this small but emerging research and manufacturing company was the collective idea of a group of entrepreneurs who identified a need for technologically advanced and affordable armor products that could be used by the police departments, the military and homeland security.  Armed with this idea, they set out to engineer and manufacture a solution.

The result, patented by Armor Dynamics, uses basics physics, recycled ceramics and a commercially available pickup truck bed lining material to solve this costly and difficult problem.  Armor’s products are currently being used all over the world to protect both lives and property.

Their new corporate headquarters is located in the City of Kingston (NY) Business Park.  The Park was developed by the Kingston Local Development Corporation (KLDC) using a combination of New York State and federal grant and loan funds.  The primary funding for the Park came from a combination of funding that included U.S. Department of Commerce EDA, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 108/EDI, and New York State Industrial Access funding.  The Park's first tenant was Huck Industries (Division of Alcoa), a manufacturer of industrial fasteners used in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Armor’s 12,000 square foot building, which is the first phase of a planned 58,000 square foot research and manufacturing complex, is designed to provide research, prototype manufacturing and administrative space for this growing company.

The building was financed and constructed by KLDC to meet Armor’s specifications.  The construction financing included funding from the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 108, New York State Industrial Access, New York State Build Now-NY, and Ulster Savings Bank.  Now that the building is completed, Armor will be investing over $1.0 million for research and manufacturing machinery and equipment.  Armor Dynamics estimates that employment will exceed 200 when the plant reaches full capacity.
