NDC is happy to report
that much of the $121 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation
we received in the latest allocation round (among the highest
in the country) has been quickly put to work generating capital
and jobs in communities across the nation. Projects supported
with nearly $50 million in New Markets Tax Credits are now being
completed. They include expansions of manufacturing companies
in Iowa and Washington State; commercial or mixed-used redevelopments
for area revitalization, in Wyoming, Nebraska and New York State;
and community facilities in New York State and Nebraska.
Equally important, there are additional projects in our pipeline scheduled for approval over the next several months in other regions. We'll be listing those in the future. And most important, we'll be proudly unveiling these projects individually as each one opens for business.
In its very short life, this economic development tool has become a major resource for community development and economic development of all kinds. Community development and economic development professionals need to know how to get and use New Markets Tax Credits.
NDC has responded by adding this subject to our training curriculum. The ED 515 - New Markets Tax Credits training course is an intensive three-day session designed to take the mystery out of this still-new but powerful economic development tool. Participate in this exciting NDC course and begin applying this federal tool to your most pressing economic development needs. See the Course Schedule for updated information.
